All months of the year except monsoon times from June to August, however March to May are good for treks when wild-flowers in full bloom, where most of the days are clear for views Morning and Night time as well in shade will be cold without wind-chill factor, October to December the best month to trek when the day is clear, but short sunlight hours due to autumn and winter months will be very cold morning/night times with chances of snow.

Introduction

Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, a great short adventure of little over a week duration probably the one and only base camp within all Himalayas that you can reach in a short time frame, as well as the only base camp having facilities of warm and cozy lodges to stay.

Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is one of the most scenic spots enclosed within an array of peaks, where earlier pioneers named the place a sanctuary, due to its excellent location within high peaks that surrounds you at Annapurna base camp and within the beautiful sanctuary.

No other adventure in the Himalayas makes you feel at ease like on this Annapurna Base Camp trekking, without a big problem of catching AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) or with high altitude symptoms.

Where this walk to Annapurna base camp and at scenic sanctuary leads you at a comfortable pace gaining heights gradually and getting acclimatized as you trek along from one nice place to another till you reach the main highlight of the adventure at Annapurna base camp above 4,130 m high.

Mt. Annapurna -I rise above 8,091 m high, the first world 8,000 meters mountain ever to be conquered by French Expeditions in early 1950 even before Everest was climbed, a tremendous country to experience where walking leads you from low warm areas to high cooler mid hill then reaching at the arctic zone of ice and glaciers at Annapurna base camp and Sanctuary.

Apart from great close views of mountains other attractiveness is walking through the traditional farm villages of Gurung people witnessing its great culture of age-old heritage and custom and walking into serene alpine woodland makes this trek special.

On reaching our goal and final destinations at Annapurna Base Camp and in the comfort of a nice lodge with rooms facing views of high peaks, enjoying great moments, where return walks leads back into a cool forested area around Modi River gorge and then back into low warm farm areas where drive brings you back at beautiful Pokhara.

Annapurna Base Camp trekking starts and completes in the lovely city of Pokhara within the lakeside of Phewa, where the drive takes you to the capital Kathmandu after a marvelous and remarkable adventure and experience on Annapurna Base Camp Trekking.   

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu via respective international airline and transfer to hotel.

On arrival where you will be well received by our staff and guide and then transfer to your respective hotels in the center of the city in Kathmandu, after checking into your rooms and getting refreshed from jet-leg join with other members of Annapurna Base Camp Trekking.

Our guide/leader will be brief with information about the hotels-including detail of trekking regarding the local lodge, walks, views, history, and culture with a few important do’s and don’ts while you are with us having enjoyable times.

The evening includes a nice dinner in a pleasant Nepalese restaurant with local cultural programs from all parts of the country to enlighten the environment along with your dinner.

Day 2In Kathmandu with optional sightseeing tour and preparation for the trek.

A free day to prepare for the upcoming treks to high Khumbu, morning an optional sightseeing tour at places of great interest, exploring around Kathmandu world heritage sites for few hours and back at hotel, afternoon free for individual activities and preparations for next morning overland journey to reach at Pokhara around Nepal Mid-West region for Annapurna Base Camp trekking.

Day 3Drive or fly to Pokhara 865 m - 06 hrs journeys (30 mins by air)

The morning after breakfast take an interesting drive on Nepal’s main highway that connects with various parts of the country, where a drive leads around warmer low areas past farm areas with villages and towns, following the Trisuli River for some time as the drive heads further west to reach at beautiful and scenic Pokhara city by its serene Phewa lake for an overnight stop.

Pokhara is one of the renowned touristic spot in the whole Himalaya with a warmer climate but with close views of the towering and massive Annapurna Himalaya and majestic Machhapuchare Himal known as Fish Tail peak.

Options by air to Pokhara take about 30 minutes of scenic air flight from Kathmandu.

Day 4Drive to Bhirethati 1,100 m and trek to Ghandruk village 1,945 m - 05 hrs.

With wonderful views of the Annapurna range of peaks, where morning leads to a short drive of a few hours heading past Pokhara city and its valley areas to reach Nayapul and Bhirethati with fabulous scenery of Annapurna and green landscapes, on reaching nice Bhirethati village starting our first-day walk following Modi River for sometimes.

On leaving the low warm areas of paddy fields and Modi River, then our route leads to a climb past farm areas then reaching the large Ghandruk village, check into a fine lodge with afternoon free to relax and enjoy the views or visit its small museum of Gurung people, the tribe of the village as well spread all around Annapurna region.

Gurung is farmers and cattle herders where most of the men-folk since the last century a great demand as the famous Gurkha Army in British and Indian military including Singapore and Brunei.

Day 5Trek to Chomrong 2,170 m - 06 hrs.

From Ghandruk morning take you up at the village top and then walk on a gradual small path for a short-while then soon our climb to reach a hill top at Kimrong Danda (ridge) with some Tea-House and lodge, with a short break on the downhill walk into the forest to reach a nice green valley. At Kimrong River with its nice farm village located in this peaceful valley, from here an hour more climb for an hour or more to reach at the good winding gradual path.

After walking on a gradual winding path on paved stones then reaching our overnight place at Chomrong.  One of the large Gurung villages similar to Ghandruk the last permanent village on route to Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary.

Day 6Trek to Dovan 2,630 m - 06 hrs.

After Chomrong downhill to cross over a bridge of Chomrong river then uphill to Sinuwa danda (ridge) with a couple of Tea-House and shops, where the walk leads into deeply forested areas winding ups and then descends into dense woodland with bamboo grooves to a place called also as Bamboo.

A small settlement to cater to the needs of the trekkers with many good lodges located in a river gorge surrounded by a forest of rhododendron pines and bamboo.

From the Bamboo place walk is gradual into the woods with easy ups to reach Dovan for overnight stops in a small remote and isolated place with few lodges for travelers.

Day 7Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,810 m - 06 hrs.

Slowly our adventure leads closer to our aim and highlight as walk leads into winding ups into forest past a lonely place called Himalaya Hotel, located next to large overhanging cave Hinko which is directly beneath Annapurna South and Huin-Chuli peaks.

From Himalaya Hotel downhill near Modi River then with short climb to reach at Deurali where tall tree lines stops for short alpine bushes, walk carries on uphill following Modi river right up to our overnight stop at Machhapuchare base camp located at the bottom of majestic North Face of Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’.

Day 8Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at 4,130 m - 03 hrs.

A short day’s walk to Annapurna base camp, from Machhapuchare where Annapurna Sanctuary starts right up to base camp, walk leads to short ups to reach the level ground on a huge plateau within the scenic Sanctuary hidden within an array of peaks where the walk leads to a welcoming sign-post at Annapurna Base Camp.

After a few hours of good walk reaching our final destination and the highest spot at 4,130 m high situated beneath towering Mt. Annapurna and the range of other peaks of Vara-Shikar, Gangapurna with Annapurna South.

Annapurna Base Camp is the one and only base camp in the whole Himalaya region with a facility of a nice and cozy lodge including a nice food menu and rooms facing amazing views of Annapurna peaks.

Day 9Trek from Base Camp to Bamboo 2,345 m - 06 hrs.

Enjoying lovely and pleasant scenic times at Annapurna base camp a long walk of near six hours leads you downhill with short ups to reach at Bamboo and back into tall tree lines and lush vegetation, after being on arctic zone climate at Annapurna base camp and sanctuary.

Day 10Trek to Jhinu village 1,780m with Hot Spring - 06 hrs.

The return journey back to Chomrong with ups and downhill trail, from Chomrong hilltop our route diverts to another fresh new trail to reach a nice hill village at Jhinu located on a ridge with grand scenery of rolling hills and mountains.

Jhinu provides a refreshing natural hot spring for interested people which is a mere distance downhill of half an hour to the hot spring with two nice warm pools close to the raging Modi River.

Day 11Trek to road head and drive to Pokhara-05 hrs.

After a great time on the high hills of Annapurna and at base camp, morning walks lead downhill back into warmer areas full of farm villages as the walk follows Modi River all the way to a nice village by the road-head, and then with a short drive of few hours to reach back at scenic and beautiful Pokhara for last overnight by its Phewa Lakeside.

Day 12Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with free afternoon.

With enjoyable time in the high Annapurna Himalaya where the morning overland journey takes you on the same route to reach back at Kathmandu, after a wonderful time and experience on Annapurna Base Camp trekking with the rest of the afternoon free at leisure.

For people with options by air to Kathmandu 30 minutes of scenic flight from Pokhara.

Day 13Depart Kathmandu for international departure homeward bound.

Finally approaching the last day in Kathmandu after great memories and adventure on Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, with your last final day in Nepal where Mount Vision Trek staff and guide transfer you to Kathmandu international airport for your flight homeward bound.
